The Mind Fix

worship
We were asked this question on Twitter:
“how do you deal with never having hugs, etc from the opposite sex?”

If you have been in a relationship/engaged before, you know very well what it’s like to be hugged, hold hands, have general affection from your boy/girlfriend or Fiancé/e. And especially if your Love Language is “Physical Touch”.

In the beginning, even though the Lord was with Adam, He was only there in Spirit, He created Eve to be with Adam physically “It is not good for the man to be alone” (Genesis 2:18). Once you know what it’s like to NOT be alone, to have some and be loved and then find yourself alone again can sometimes be hard.

When your mind goes back to the good times in the relationship and remember those long warm hugs after a hard day at work…but that’s where it starts – in the mind. Once those thoughts start it’s like a floodgate opens.

“I want that feeling again, I wonder who she’s dating now, why did he dump me, why am I still single now, has God forgotten me, my prayers are not being answered, I’ll never get married”… you see a million other thoughts follow!

The Bible says the Lord will keep you in Perfect Peace when all your mind (thoughts) are fixed on Him. That’s not to say you can’t have the thought but it’s when you dwell on it and start thinking over it, it can lead to negative thinking and God forbid, depression. But when you think “I remember that felt good, but I know I serve a good God who will guide me to my husband/wife, and vice versa, at the right time.” Then shift your mind away from it by praising God for something wonderful that He has done in your life recently. Focus on His goodness and trust that everyday He is bringing you closer to your husband/wife.
You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]. Isaiah 26:3-4 (AMP)
